These are the stories of Stanford, a lively young pup who must work for his kibbles. He is my son's service dog. Enjoy the antics of these two as they grow up and work together!

Guard Dog

This is mommy writing the story. Stanford doesn't like to brag (well ok he's watching me type this!).

My mom and I took Alex to the park last Saturday.  No one was around, so I let Stanford off his leash, so he could sniff around the empty popsicle sticks and the old dog poop left behind.  Grandma and I plopped on the bench with the little white dog and Alex headed for the tall slide.

Once he got up to the top of the slide, he stopped.  He was just sitting there and he was whining a bit. Well he'd been grumpy and whiney all morning so we kind of ignored him.  Finally I yelled over to him to go on down the slide already.  Geesh.  So he moved towards the opening and kicked some pop cans down the chute and made a startling, load noise.  Stanford was instantly over there!!! He was on full alert and was looking up at Alex and trying frantically to get up the slide!  He paced and looked up and paced some more - looking for a way up.  Had he not been on the rope climbing side, he would have been up those stairs and to Alex!

We haven't been in a situation where there was danger or we were in need of protection (yes I am grateful for that) so seeing Stanford actually display a real concern and need to get to Alex was incredible. It was nice that it was actually a "benign" situation, yet see Stanford move into action!

As it turns out, I shouldn't have encouraged Alex to go down the slide.  As he slide down, more garbage came out and he landed on top of a full garbage can, complete with dirty diapers,.  Someone has shoved it into the slide. There was also a street sign, still on the metal pole.  I was lucky Alex didn't get hurt (that metal pole could have done real damage), but boy did he smell.  That ended the trip to the park and got Alex a bath. Stanford got a doggie treat!

I got a haircut.

Man it was fun!  My groomer lets us run all over the place.....and there were 2 other retrievers too!  We played and played and I found a.....wait for it....a TENNIS BALL! OMG!

Oh yeah, the little fluffy white thing came with.  She just barked and played with the little dogs.  I think she was the littlest dog too.  She's such a pain.

I was tired. I slept and slept. That was a lot of exercise and excitement for this fat pup!

I went to my favorite salon!

The boy got a haircut on Saturday and I got to go! Oh boy!  I like going to the salon cause the pretty lady there pets me and gives me all kinds of attention!

I also got to go to the eyeglass place!  They love me there too.  What can I say? I'm popular!

Then off to eat!  Red Robin (yum).  At one point, Daddy dropped his napkin and it laid on my nose! I don't get to sniff around and be all nosey so I just laid there. It might have been a trick.....I didn't want to hear bad doggie, so I stayed there with a napkin on my nose!

And the best part of the day???? The little white dog had to stay home! In the kennel too! ha! In your face fluff ball!

Spring is in the Air

Friday was so nice. Mom took us outside and she even brought the tennis ball out!  Heaven! Pure Doggie Heaven...until...

I had to poop. I really did. I tried to hold it but all that running I had to go.  I had the tennis ball in my mouth and I looked over at mom and I sure didn't want her to stop playing with me but I was already making my circles (Mom says the turtle was poking his head out). Now I don't know about you but I can't make number 2 with a tennis ball in my mouth, so I had to drop it.  Well I dropped it in my circles.  So I was spinning and circling and the ball was under my feet and I knew I shouldn't poop on the ball and I tried really hard.....

BUT I pooped on the ball!!!!!  For the love of tennis balls, I dropped a deuce right on it! Oh the shame!  And of course there's no friggin way I'm picking that thing up either. So I looked over at Mom, looked at the desecrated ball and looked back over at Mom.  I gave her the sad puppy dog eyes......

She got me a new ball! A shiney, clean one.  So we could play some more. Phew!

But she left the dirty one out so I had to sit by the door for the rest of the night, watching it.  Just in case....

A Trip to the Pharmacy

Daddy took us in his truck the other night to CVS. I have no idea what that means, but it's a place for humans I guess.  The boy, the little white dog and me.  I always ride the back with the boy and the little dog, she gets to ride in Daddy's lap. I don't know why I can't ride in Daddy's lap too?

So we're ridin' (not ridin' dirty either) and we pull into a drive thru.  The little dog, she loves those!  I do too but people miss me since I ride in the back, but people give you doggie treats in these windows!  It's awesome (well when you are seen and you actually get one!). The little dog, she goes nuts! She just knows that she's getting a treat and loves a drive thru window. So Daddy pulled up nice and close and asked for his medicine.  There was a very nice lady on the other side, I could see her.  As usual she loved the little dog and didn't notice the big dog (hanging head).  So the lady asked Daddy if his little doggy would like a treat?  Silly question..... the little dog jumped out of the car and into the drive thru window!!!  She almost missed but the nice lady caught her and pulled her inside.

I did laugh cause Daddy was mad at her!  But she got a treat anyhow....... and the big dog?  He got one too! Daddy asked for one for me.  Score!

I wonder what would happen if I jumped out into the drive thru window??????
